Services
Have a Heart Mission, now the Community Ministry at First Baptist Church of Islamorada, began in 2000 as an outreach to the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless in our community. Over the years God has blessed the ministry and enabled this small church to help thousands of individuals and families each year.
The Food & Clothing Pantry is open from 10am-12pm and 5pm-6pm on Tuesdays or by appointments if needed. Food items include milk, fresh produce, frozen meat, bagged ice and non-perishable food items.
Each Tuesday morning at 9 am, one of our Pastors hosts a faith discussion group for those who are interested in learning more about Christianity. This informal gathering outside under the tents is a great opportunity to share a cup of coffee and enjoy discussing the weekly message or ask a question about the Bible.
Every Tuesday there is a Free Community Meal offered from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. Dinner is prepared by our volunteers and various organizations including San Pedro Catholic Church.
Counseling services are available for those who have experienced an emotional trauma or are working though anxiety, depression, or grief. The Community Ministry has partnered with Wellspring Counseling of Miami to provide a licensed counselor on premise every Tuesday. Counseling is available by appointment only by calling 305-306-7842.
We can also provide referrals to various social services including social security services, food stamps, Monroe County Social Services and Legal Aid.
Food Drop Off
If you would like to bring food (only non-perishable, unopened items) to help feed the hungry in our community you can always bring your donations to the church on Tuesdays.
There are also a number of local businesses who have collection bins that you can bring non-perishable items too as well – If you would like to have a collection bin to support this ministry please contact the Community Ministry at 305-306-7842.
